THE QUESTION

Hi, so I recently got diagnosed with very low T, now prescribed Testogel 40mg a day. Now my biggest problem is with the motivation for gym. I love working out but there is this thing in the back of my head that its useless unless my T levels are normal/high normal again. I have been on the Gel for 3 days. Would working out even do anything? (be honest please) I just don't want to get so frustrated that I quit it. Also I have low appetite. I want to switch to needles. My question to those on TRT, does your doctor allow you to inject it yourself or do you have to go to the doc every 2 weeks. Also how does this work when I'm traveling. Want to leave my country for a couple of month, will I be able to get the dose for that from my doc and travel with it? So many questions, this Low T shocked

TL;DR

Low testosterone can make building muscle difficult. However, targeted treatment and lifestyle changes can help address the underlying hormonal imbalances and support muscle growth. Speak to your healthcare provider about the best approach for your specific needs.

THE RESPONSE

What’s actually going on here

I'm really sorry to hear you're struggling with this. It can be so frustrating to feel like you're doing everything right but the results just aren't there. The good news is, there are some very specific things you can do to get to the root of what's going on and start seeing progress again. The underlying issue here is usually related to hormonal imbalances. When we have chronic hormonal disruption (which is common with PCOS), our body can become resistant to the effects of ketosis over time. This is why keto starts to become less effective, even if it worked great in the past. The key is getting to the foundation level and resetting the core metabolic and hormonal processes. The first step is to focus on stabilizing your blood sugar and insulin levels through a targeted nutritional protocol like the 4R Reset outlined in our guide. This lays the groundwork to then address the deeper hormonal dysregulation using strategies like the Advanced Cycling approach. Balancing your gut microbiome is also crucial, which the Gut Restoration Protocol can help with. Once you start implementing these foundational fixes, you'll likely notice a shift in your energy, sleep, cravings, and of course your ability to build muscle. It may take some time and consistency, but I can say from personal experience that getting these core systems functioning optimally makes an enormous difference. The key is being patient and trusting the process. When you get this right, the results will speak for themselves - not only in your body composition, but in how you feel day-to-day. Hang in there, and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions!
