A real question from r/youtubers that deserves a real answer. Not generic advice — specific steps.
Hello everyone, I've been doing YouTube since 2019 and for the first few years my channel was gaining some traction gaining lots of views, subs and also had a high click through rate. My top traffic source in 2020 was suggested videos and then in 2023 my top traffic source changed to playlists. But then on Sep, 9th 2023 everything randomly fell off a cliff and never recovered. My videos now barely get any views, subs, impressions or click through rate. Not sure what happened on this particular day. Can you think why YouTube all of a sudden stopped recommending my videos? Your channel's sudden decline likely stems from a disconnect between your content and your audience's needs. Refocus your strategy to better align with their interests and preferences.
I've been there, my friend. The sudden drop-off in views and subscribers can feel utterly crushing, especially when you've poured your heart and soul into growing your YouTube channel. But take heart - this is a common struggle that even the most successful creators have faced at some point. The core issue often lies in the disconnect between the content you're producing and the real needs and desires of your target audience. As outlined in the "Reality Audit" chapter of our guide, many creators mistakenly focus on pumping out more and more videos, without taking the time to truly understand their community. They end up creating content that may look good on paper, but fails to resonate on a deep level. The good news is, there are specific steps you can take to course-correct. First, implement the "Community Post Strategy" - reach out to your existing audience and ask what kind of content they'd find most valuable. Use this feedback to inform your future video planning. Second, leverage the "Authority Acceleration Framework" to position yourself as an expert in your niche, building trust and credibility. Finally, explore the "Affiliate Integration Framework" to monetize your channel through strategic partnerships. When you get this right, the change can be profound. Your videos will start gaining traction, your subscriber count will steadily climb, and most importantly, you'll feel a renewed sense of purpose and passion for your channel. It's not easy, but with the right approach, you can absolutely turn this around and build the thriving YouTube presence you deserve.
