THE QUESTION

Obviously, I have a biased take on my channel. I work hard and I feel like my content is pretty damn good. It’s just insane to me seeing people with the EXACT same type of thumbnail and title, with worse editing and scripts, have a video with 100k views and mine is sitting at 300 views. It just doesn’t seem right. It’s hard not to be convinced that the algorithm is working against me. I’ve worked up to 11k subs (from a few viral shorts) but am still struggling to break 1k views on any of my long form videos, which is my main focus. My goal is to get into the YPP but it seems so tough and I’m not sure when I’m actually going to have a long form video break that barrier for me. It’s easy to get down but I’m definitely not going to quit, I’d just appreciate any advice from any of you on wh...

TL;DR

The YouTube algorithm can be fickle, leading creators to consider starting a new channel. However, the real solution may lie in better understanding your audience's needs and optimizing your content strategy on your existing channel.

THE RESPONSE

What’s actually going on here

I hear you, friend. The struggle to grow a YouTube channel from zero is all too real. After pouring your heart and soul into creating content, only to see little to no traction, it's enough to make anyone want to start fresh on a new channel. But before you go that route, let me share a few insights that may help explain what's going on and point you in a more productive direction. The core issue often boils down to a disconnect between the value you're providing and what your target audience is actually looking for. As covered in the "Reality Audit" chapter of our guide, many creators make the mistake of producing content in a vacuum, without truly understanding the needs and pain points of their prospective viewers. This results in videos that fail to resonate, no matter how much effort you put in. The antidote? Shift your focus to the "Community Post Strategy" and the "Authority Acceleration Framework." Start by engaging deeply with your existing (albeit small) audience, understanding their challenges, and creating content tailored to their specific desires. Simultaneously, establish yourself as an authoritative voice in your niche by leveraging relevant forums, online communities, and strategic guest posting. This two-pronged approach will help you build genuine connections and recognition, laying the groundwork for sustainable growth. And don't forget the power of the "Affiliate Integration Framework." By thoughtfully incorporating relevant affiliate products or services into your content, you can not only generate additional revenue, but also provide even more value to your viewers. This holistic approach will set you up for long-term success, rather than chasing the elusive "quick fix" of starting over. When you get this right, the transformation is profound. Instead of feeling like a digital ghost town, your channel will become a vibrant, engaged community of loyal fans who eagerly anticipate your next piece of content. The views, subscribers, and monetization opportunities will follow, and you'll be well on your way to building the YouTube presence you've always envisioned.
